doom and gloom at Christmas?

With rising unemployment, food prices, fuel costs & reduced credit available you'd think people would be looking ahead to Christmas with a sense of dread. Well, you'd be right, but it's not quite affecting everyone.
Increasing numbers of people are becoming less enthusiastic about this seasonal period due to the economic demands it makes on them. MMR Pulse® has picked up on a definite feeling of concern that this Christmas in particular will be difficult to budget for. We also find, as you'd expect, that children don't really understand the consequences of a recession, and that many parents will adopt a 'kids first' policy and will themselves go without to protect their children.
Then there is a minority who can't see how the recession will be affecting their Christmas. Their company will still be laying on a lavish party at a 5 star hotel and they'll be indulging as much as they always do, even taking advantage of the increase in special offers around this year to really make the most of Christmas. More than ever they deserve to make it go out with a bang. These people really are the minority.
Reducing spending on the extended family, reducing food waste and making the most of the early sales are what most people will be doing this Christmas to ensure a good end to a less than prosperous year.
This is just a very small example from our subscription-based monthly trend monitoring service MMR Pulse.
Now into its second year, the service provides many of our major clients access to monthly reports based on a quarterly cycle.
Month 1 offers the results of an in-depth quantitative study tracking the subtle changes in people's attutudes to a whole host of factors which influence buying behaviour on everything to do with food and drinks purchasing.
Month 2 reports on our community forum at www.pulsefoodanddrink.com.
Month 3 reports on our online qualitative research, where we pick the most suitable issues from what we have learnt within Pulse and also take requests from our clients. All this for just less than £12k per annum for twelve reports. A Christmas bargain very appropriate for these difficult financial times. Do contact us if you'd like to know more.
