David works as an Innovation Program Director at Cubo with Princes in Liverpool, his home town.
He's always been interested in Marketing and NPD, alongside a love for food, nutrition and experimenting in the kitchen. With a Business & Marketing Degree, which included the opportunity to spend a year with Unilever at Walls Ice Cream in the Market Insights Department, David's role at Cubo really fits his interests!
David has spent the majority of his career in the butter, booze and breakfast categories, working in a range of Marketing and Innovation roles. He started his career at Arla Foods, back in the day as Brand Manager for Lurpak Butter - a fabulous company driving some brilliant dairy innovation. He loves the Swedes and Danes! He then spent a lively few years as Marketing Manager on Spirits for a small, independent drinks manufacturer called Halewood International, owners of Red Square Vodka, Whitley Neil Gins and Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beers. This was followed by a range of innovation and business development roles with Kellogg’s in Manchester, working right across their snacks and cereal businesses and making some great friends along the way. This is where in fact he first met some members of the MMR family - Louisa Griffiths, Luisa Gibbons and Mat Lintern.
He had a couple of great years with Pepsico in Reading too, working on Innovation Acceleration in their European Nutrition business unit (Quaker, Tropicana and Naked Juice). Then a little foray into a totally different sector, utilities, working as Head Of Brand for United Utilities Water. Helping keep the taps flowing and toilets flushing for the people of the North West! A fascinating insight into that world and the delights of the sewer systems serving Liverpool and Manchester in particular.
David now has 3 wonderful, lively daughters that keep him busy and broke. Megan (12) likes showing him her TikTok creations. Lauren (10) loves to do a bit of fishing on the canal near their home. Molly (6) keeps everyone on their toes… and they find themselves climbing a lot of trees. For sanity, David runs a lot. He enters a few half marathons throughout the year and is starting to cycle more too. His family like to get out to walk in the countryside and he loves to follow Liverpool FC as well as the Mighty Wigan Warriors (proper rugby).
Aside from the core of his career path and family life, David also used to run a summer bouncy castle at the weekends for a local pub... dressed as a clown.Back to meet your MMR team
