on the Reading University Campus.

The role includes:

Panel Leading

  • Panel leading - helping to run panel sessions as you learn the skills required to lead the panel independently. This includes moderating, performance tracking and creating descriptive language glossaries
  • Providing cover for our other sensory panels (including for other MMR Sensory Panel Leaders when trained) when required. This may be in other UK locations
  • Running recruitment screening sessions, making up screening solutions/products, screening and interviewing, and helping train new panelists to the required standards
  • Assisting in the management of the panels schedule, ensuring that the results are delivered in a timely manner to clients
  • Taking responsibility for the daily running of the Sensory Panels to ensurethe ultimate objective of meeting the clients’ requirements
  • Proposal and Report Writing
  • Creating engaging proposals (from timing, cost and design) and reports for clients in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Liaising with our Indian based MMR Project Support teams, sending out data for charting and checking the resultant charts. This includes planning and coordinating data being sent to MMR’s statistical team and then out to India
  • Analysing training check data, develop retraining plans and ensure robust data
  • Ensuring that ALL projects files are saved on the MMR shared drives
  • Ensuring that every project has an accurate briefing document (Sensory Project Request or Sensory Project Control Sheet) and that this is received before a project starts
  • Other responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting the Panel Manager in all aspects of running the Sensory Panel, including arranging the weekly planning meeting
  • Taking responsibility for the creation and checking of Compusense @hand files, enabling all elements of SSC work to be programmed into the software, and managing all issues generated by @hands
  • Being responsible for sourcing and managing the delivery of products for research to the SSC, for checking that all of the products required are ready for research and ensuring that they are inventoried on arrival and stored correctly. This includes storing and preparing samples for both training and profiling sessions
  • Preparing samples/materials for panel training and profiling
  • Running profiling sessions in the booths including preparation of all materials and samples, serving of samples, data collection and cleaning the booths afterwards
  • Monitoring the quality of food samples and test procedure and ensure appropriate records are maintained (including temperature logs for freezers/fridges, cooking logs, inventory logs with BB/Use by dates etc.)
  • Ensuring the Sensory Panel working area is prepared appropriately in good time for each session and cleared/cleaned after
  • Ensuring that all activities carried out comply with basic food hygiene standards in order to work safely within the laboratory. Basic food hygiene training will be provided.
  • With MMR’s focus on developing new and better research methods and sophisticated analysis techniques, there's the opportunity to gain experience of several novel and exciting approaches to conducting research and interpreting data.

    Are you an experienced Market Research professional looking for an exciting new challenge within a senior role in FMCG market research?

    We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic senior researcher to join our dedicated team as a Research Director.

    This role, reporting into our Director, Head of London Business, and will be based in our central London (Blackfriars) office.

    This role will be varied but some key elements include:

    Managing Client Accounts:

  • You will have ultimate responsibility for the quality of service provided and business developed on a number of MMR’s key FMCG client accounts
  • You will be responsible for the provision of internal consultancy and sign off (as appropriate) on research design, proposal and debrief content.

    The role involves:

    On daily basis our team handles requests ranging right from desktop support queries through to infrastructure, project planning, and implementation.

    As the Support Engineer, you will:

  • Have ownership of user support queries, prioritising and resolving them in accordance with agreed SLA’s
  • Troubleshoot issues; primarily through our remote system, but will visit users and offices/locations as needed for onsite support and project work
  • Be the first escalation point for 1st line support, providing assistance and advice where required across the whole business
  • You'll also get to be involved in project planning and implementation. Everyone has the chance to offer ideas, get involved and support our new technology projects. We're continually updating and improving our Infrastructure and support services.

    On the job training will be provided, with potential to attend external training courses.

    You will be:

    The role:

    Based within the UK Qualitative sensory team, you will help enable us to continue to grow our innovative and exciting methodologies; RetrEATS and EROS. Both approaches use qualitative collaborative techniques coupled with sensory expertise to help our clients work towards perfect product briefs. This role enables creativity at all stages of the project cycle as well as great client interaction from day 1.

    This role is sensory based but with a strong qualitative focus:

    • Writing sensory related qualitative proposals
    • Working across teams, with all members of staff as required, for a variety of clients
    • Moderating consumer groups and facilitating workshops
    • Liaising with international agencies and attending international fieldwork as relevant (this method is becoming increasingly popular internationally, so there will be plenty of opportunities to travel)
    • Writing screeners, discussion guides, supporting field materials and producing qualitative sensory reports.
    • Taking an active part in EROS and RetrEATS debriefs and client facing sensory activities (training, consultancy, etc)
    • Analysing sensory quantitative data providing considered reporting, interpretation and recommendations for discussion with the Project Leader

    On the job training will be provided but there will also be the opportunity to attend external training courses

    You will be:

    Passionate about sensory research

    • Be an exceptional communicator (fluency in written/spoken English is essential)
    • Comfortable working with both clients and consumers /panelists alike
    • Happy to travel both nationally and internationally on a regular basis- expect lots of opportunities to travel and explore new countries

    You will have:

    • Excellent sensory moderation skills –be able to elicit detailed sensory vocabulary from trained panelists and transfer these moderation skills to working with clients/untrained consumers
    • Sensory acuity – ability to articulate product sensory characteristics themselves and to provide clear argumentation/recommendation on product differences to support a product selection relevant to the project objectives
    • A background in Sensory research, either academically or demonstrable in your career to date
    • A valid UK drivers’ license

    Part-time Product Evaluator (Sensory Panelists) - Brentford

    Learn a new skill and help bring products to life in a permanent part-time role!

    MMR Research Worldwide specialise in consumer and sensory market research in the food, drink, personal and household care sectors.

    We are currently looking for articulate and collaborative people for current & future opportunities on our sensory team based in Brentford. Using the new skills that you’ll learn, you will be required to sample all sorts of oral health, skincare products and over the counter medicine.

    Responsibilities:

    • Working individually and within a team to evaluate products within the oral health and skincare industry.
    • Products range from toothpaste and mouthwash to moisturising creams.

    Hours:

    • Monday to Thursday, 9.30am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm 
    • Flexibility to work on projects at home if required (on rare occasions)

    Requirements:

    • No experience necessary (full training provided)
    • Good sensory acuity (this will be tested at a screening session),
    • The ability to articulate yourself effectively in front of others.
    • You should not have any food intolerances / allergies, smoke / vape, mouth piercings or be on regular medication
